- I've gotten over my horrible cold, which went into a nasty sinus infection after about 2 weeks. It was so painful that after church one Sunday I even attempted to stop at an urgent care....which was futile. There were at least 20 other sickies in line before me and a 3 hour wait. I quickly decided that I did not have time for that with a cranky 2 year old along and ended up at Garners Natural Market. The kind lady recommended a neti pot and salt water to clear out the sinuses and Grapefruit Seed Extract. It took a little time, about another week, but those natural remedies worked!!! Try googling "untreated sinus infections.....scary thing.
- We spent a lovely weekend in January in Atlanta for the Hockey All Star Games at the Philips Arena. We could only afford tickets for Shawn, so he got them for his birthday. We visited one of our sister Sovereign Grace churches, and Shawn navigated the MARTA transit system in the city. We visited the Georgia Aquarium as a family. Knox loved the "wale seearks" and wales, wales, wales......We stayed at a beautiful hotel in a suite---the Hyatt Place at the Cobb Galleria. We were able to stay for less than $50 per night thru Hotwire.com. I'd definitely go back. The staff was very friendly and it was very clean and beautiful in a modern sort of way.
- We had our newest pastor and his wife and family over for homemade pizza. We love them a whole lot and had such a good time! The kids played together wonderfully!
- Shawn celebrated his 37th birthday with lots of homework and a Buy 1 Get 1 free meal from Ryans. Knox ate with two hands---one for the pizza and another for corn.
- We painted and spring cleaned the bathroom and put up our new striped shower curtain and our new towels. Trust me, it needed to be painted and we needed new towels.....
- We rearranged and spring cleaned the master bedroom.....this involved moving heavy dressers and bookcases to clean walls. We discovered a little mold on the outside walls, so that needed some heavy cleaning. I put up "new" curtains from the Salvation Army. I remember my sisters mother-in-law telling me that they always fight when wallpapering and moving.....haha! Shawn is sure that I am trying to make the house more "cottage-y!" I hate to say it, but I love spring cleaning, rearranging furniture, and I love "cottage-y!" Shawn???? Not so much!
- We celebrated Valentine's Day as a family tonight with the help of a present from my Mom and Dad! We had ribs, peach cobbler and live blues music at Sticky Fingers in downtown Greenville. We walked a little and stopped for coffee, smoothie, and a 5 inch diameter chocolate chip cookie for Knox. Can I say YUM!!! I think downtown Greenville is one of the most beautiful places in the area, definitely one of my favorite places to go, and its pedestrian friendly.
- Work has been really busy with lots of orders--good for business and job security---but very stressful for me. Shawn is swamped with homework in preparation for graduation!!!!! Graduation! I'm so proud of him! It's hard to update a blog when he is studying at the computer, so blogging may continue to be a little sparse!
On tap? Planting a spring garden....painting the kitchen....spring cleaning the rest of the house....painting the shed....graduation....its going to be a whirlwind next couple of months!!
