Old Time Fiddlin' Convention

The Hagood Mill (c. 1845) is open on the 3rd Saturday of every month. It is north of Pickens, SC on Hwy. 178, about 3 miles and then left on Hagood Mill Rd. The grist mill is open and they sell freshly ground grits, and cornmeal. There are Indian petroglyphs, and a number of old log cabins that have been moved in and restored.

This Saturday was the Fiddlin' Convention and we really enjoyed the music, touring the mill, and old moonshine still, a nature trail, and the cabins, dating from 1791. It is a beautiful, peaceful location with picnic tables, which can be used anytime for a fun family outing.

All over the grounds there were impromptu groups of people playing and singing and practicing for the competition. Knox walked right on in and started "helping".
Knox loved the chickens and piglets on the back of an old truck.
